Theodore Lapekas

ESL Teacher & Accent Reduction Specialist

I’m Theodore “Ted” Lapekas. I’ve been teaching English for the past 10 years and accent reduction for the past five years. I began teaching, 10 years ago, in Panama City, Panama. I taught Marketing and Business Psychology at the University of Louisville there as well as English at several different government schools.

Five years ago I moved to Miami and taught English and Accent Reduction at a language school here. When the Pandemic caused the schools to close I decided to focus on accent reduction and began to seek online students. I have found face-to-face classes on the computer are as much or more effective than classroom sessions. Classroom distractions are removed and the student receives a full hour of training. I can monitor facial expressions more closely and help the student to form difficult words more easily.

I specialize in coaching dental professionals who speak Portuguese or Spanish as their first language. I currently have students from Brazil, Spain, Peru, Colombia, Argentina, and Venezuela.

I hold a TESOL – Teaching English as a Second Language certificate, have attended numerous training classes for teaching both English and Accent Reduction and an MBA from Michigan State University,

What to Expect

Accent Express offers Accent Reduction courses anywhere in the virtual world. With various
packages available to suit each student’s needs, our classes are affordable, easily accessible,
and highly professional.

Why Your English Will Quickly Become Clearer:

  • Ted loves helping people overcome their challenges with accents while seeing their English
    skills improve.
  • You will be speaking and completing all English lessons in the American style, not the style of
    your first language.
  • You will be mimicking the American intonation patterns which aid in minimizing accented
    behaviors such as:
  • Talking too fast
  • Talking with short and choppy sound segments
  • Talking in a monotone
  • As your American intonation becomes a habit you will be learning the missing or mispronounced
sounds such as: th, v, w vowel sounds, and most importantly, the use of thought groups.

The best part: Soon, your friends and colleagues will notice the change and comment about it.
Very often students report that someone told them that their English is better and that they can
understand them more easily. Students also tell me they feel more confident when they have to
speak on the phone or in front of groups.
